Assistant Golf Professional

Job Purpose Outline:

Assists Head Golf Professional, manages all golf and golf-related activities and businesses including: managing the golf shop and driving range, supervising professional staff, enforcing club rules and regulations, overseeing the club’s handicap system, providing competent golf instruction for all levels of players, supervising the rental and maintenance of golf cars, and reporting activities of the department to the Golf Committee.

Work Environment:
Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Able to meet and perform physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position. Essential Job Functions / Key Responsibilities:
  • Assists Head Golf Professional to promote and direct all golf activities including daily management responsibilities as requested.
  • Actively participates preparing annual and monthly budgets for golf operations; takes corrective actions as necessary to help assure that budget goals are attained.
  • Orders merchandise for golf shop and provides the best selection possible within the constraints of inventory and quality limits set by the General Manager.
  • Orders supplies associated with golf activities as requested.
  • Maintains attractive, orderly appearance in Golf Pro Shop.
  • Assists Head Golf Professional, supervising and training all Golf Shop staff. range, golf bag and club storage employees and     on-course personnel.
  • Provides golf lessons to members and guests.
  • Plays golf with members of all skill-levels to generate enthusiasm.
  • Designs and conducts golf clinics.
  • Plans professional development and training activities for subordinates.
  • Designs and conducts junior golf clinics and training programs.
  • Collects charges and fees for all golf-related activities.
  • Assists Head Golf Professional organize and conduct club tournaments and related events.
  • Interprets and enforces golf rules and regulations.
  • Interprets and enforces club policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Consults with the Head Golf Professional and Superintendent about golf course and practice range operations, maintenance, and rules.
  • Cooperates with the grounds superintendent about maintenance issues that affect the playability of the golf course.

·        Represents the club in area professional events including local, state or national events with the approval of the Head Golf Professional.

  • Attends all staff, management, golf committee, and other applicable meetings when requested.
  • Maintains records relating to player and guest rounds and other statistics.
  • Marshals' tournaments and at other times as determined by course usage.
  • Adheres to all federal, state and local laws regarding health, safety and employment.
  • Works directly with Head Golf Professional scheduling staff hours to assure that members are fully served and that labor costs are maintained; periodically checks timecards for adherence to posted schedules.
  • Assists in the development of short- and long-range plans for improvements to the club facilities and courses.
  • Attending national and sectional conferences and meetings, merchandise shows, educational and professional shows to encourage development and to enhance quality and image of the club.
  • Interacts with Food and Beverage Director about food and beverage needs for events.
  • Maintains visible presence on the course during peak times of play.
  • Supervises the work of the Shop Assistants and Outside Service staff.
  • Supervises golf play of members and guests from the first tee and maintains starting times according to the club’s rules and     regulations.
  • Provides golf-related information for the club’s newsletter when requested.
  • Provides for the collection and issuance of all prizes associated with all competitions.
  • Implements an overall safety program that conforms to OSHA standards for the Golf Department.
  • Manages new golf member orientation program in the absence of the Head Golf Professional.
  • Performs other appropriate tasks assigned by the Head Golf Professional and General Manager.

Key Relationships:
 Qualifications / Requirements
  • College degree preferred with a bachelor’s degree in a business-related major or Sports Management.
  • Two to Five year’s work experience as an 1st Assistant or 2nd Assistant Golf Professional or Golf Shop Assistant with equivalent golf experience at a private club.
  • Experience in the following skill sets desirable:

                     o     managing golf operations.

                    o    interpersonal/customer service.

                     o     staff training and development.

                     o     golf instruction.

                     o     tournament operation.

                     o     merchandising.

                     o     playing ability.

                     o     knowledge of the rules of golf.

Kitchen Utility - Regular Part-time

Kitchen Utility is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation and organization of all kitchen areas, kitchen equipment, service ware and supplies.  Promotes teamwork with coworkers, advances his/her knowledge and abilities and shares them with others and knows, observes and enforces objectives, policies, standards and procedures set forth by BVSA.

Under the direction and supervision of the Executive Chef or his/her designated “Lead” culinary employee.

Essential Job Functions / Key Responsibilities:
  • Assists with banquet events set-up, breakdown and restock of equipment and food while ensuring that food is presented in an appealing and appetizing manner.  
  • Stocks and maintains proper inventory level. Assists in the storage and organization of shipment stock as needed.
  • Cleans and sanitizes pots, pans, silverware, china, glassware, cooking utensils and banquet supplies.
  • Cleans, sanitizes and maintains all kitchen equipment including steam tables, deep fryers, boiler, ovens, steamers, speed racks, and shelves, walk-in     refrigerators and freezers, dishwashing machine, and etc.
  • Regularly tests dishwashing equipment for proper chemical balance to ensure proper sanitation and appearance of dishware, glassware and silverware.
  • Maintains adequate supply of cleaning and dishwashing supplies. Use and store all chemicals and cleaning materials correctly. Follow proper use of approved chemicals and accurately label chemical containers. Always use goggles and gloves when handling chemicals.
  • Performs minor maintenance checks and repairs on dishwashing machines.
  • Breaks down boxes for all kitchen areas.  
  • Cleans garbage cans and transports to dumpsters.
  • Removes and washes rubber mats from all kitchen and Food and Beverage areas.
  • Cleans floors, drains, walls, light fixtures, ceilings and vents.

Recreation Aide Lead (Evenings)

Job Purpose Outline:

All Property Owners and their guests, includingchildren in the Facility. May direct Rec Aide I’s and volunteers.Assisting the operation of the Whiting Center and sports leagues; staffing special events, and off-site events. Rec Aide II’s have at least one area of Responsibility that they oversee, plan and implement.  They have a good overall knowledge of the operations of the Facility and can take on the direction of a sporting function or special event, frequently taking on additional duties as needed.

Reports to:
Under the direction and supervision of the Recreation Director and Office Coordinator.
Work Environment:
Be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. Continuous repetitive motions. Noisy (children, sports, and equipment) environments. May be required to work outdoors in hot environments or very cold environments.

  • Maintain a safe and clean environment within our Facility; cleaning, organizing, and directing the children to ensure this.
  • Interact with the children in the Facility or creating programs and activities to keep them occupied.
  • Provide supervision for all ages to comply with rules set down by the Association.
  • Assist in running and coordinating sports activities and/or leagues with the Athletic Director.
  • Encourage good sportsmanship and group activity participation.
  • Take campground reservations, check campers in and collect fees. Maintain all proper campground paperwork, assisting Rec Aid I in correct procedures.

  • Monitor the weight room for safe and correct use.  Clean areas as needed to maintain safety. Learn the use of the equipment     in order to answer questions and assist new customers.
  • Responsible for opening and closing procedures as scheduled.
  • Have ongoing responsibility for the management and execution of classes, sports, or scheduled events as designated by the Manager.
  • Maintain regular consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance, and adherence to relevant health & safety procedures of staff.

This position is responsible for the overall officiating/judging of sports, program activities and/or events to maintain standards. Works independently and makes good sound judgment for a successful event. The position is expected to maintain an awareness of potential problems while creating respectful and welcoming activities for the community.

Reports to:
Under the direction and supervision of the Athletic Supervisor and Recreation Manager.
Work Environment:
BVSA Whiting Center/ Beaubien Athletic Fields. Depending on the type of sport/activity, may work irregular hours, including evening, weekends and holidays. Both indoor and outdoor in all types of weather depending on the type of sport/activity. Independent judgment is used in these activities which can include pressure from participants and fans. Work involves considerable exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.

Under the direction and supervision of the Amenity Supervisor, Lead Server or the Food and Beverage Manager.

  • Greets and welcome all patrons entering the Amenity.

Wrangler - Barn Maintenance/Chores

Job Tasks/Duties

  • Feed and watering of all horses housed in barns and cattle in cattle pens.
  • Clean and place bedding in stalls.
  • Cleaning of areas in and around barns.
  • Clean outside pens.
  • Weed whacking and general grounds maintenance.
  • Maintain arenas in neat order, including pick-up, advising Manager of needed repairs.
  • Assist in preparing grounds for equine events.
  • Turn-out horses to pastures.
  • General pick-up of all areas as needed.
